The Great Buck Howard starring "Colin Hanks', as Troy Gabel a college student looking for more out of life. He has always wanted to be something exciting , not the typical ordinary lawyer that his parents always wanted him to be . He discovers one day while sitting at law school that he is not happy with where his life is going, or its direction. Instantly he decides to turn his life around, to be someone who is happy about what they are doing with their life. More then just doing what is expected of you to live through life and survive. After quitting law school and lying to his parents, he decides he wants to be a writer. Realizing that being a writer is not exactly the most profitable profession out there, he looks for a job to pay for the meaningless bills, such as rent, food, clothes, and transportation.

While looking in the want-ads one day he stumbles upon an ad for help in the entertainment business. Troy thinks this is just the thing he needs to spice up his boring life of monotony . Adding that spark of excitement and adventure that he is looking for to add to his life. So he calls up to arrange an interview for the job interview. He is told to go to a dark bar to be interviewed for the position. When he gets there he is introduced to a extremely charismatic man , with one heck of a handshake Buck Howard "John Malkovich". They run through the requirements for the job and are pretty much looking for a personal assistant that will help Mr. Howard in everything he does on the road. Buck Howard is not your average ordinary guy, he is an entertainer, who's whole act is being a mentalist. Displaying psychic skills to leave his crowd in a state of wonder and amazement. Troy decides that this is the job that will suit him for the time being, or be the job that changes his whole life upside down.

Based on the experience of working with a real entertainer "The Amazing Kreskin", a magician that amazed the crowds for years. John Malkovich puts on a outstanding performance as Buck Howard playing an uptight, egotistical perfectionist, that loves what he does for a living. Sparking that need in his on the road manger Troy Gabel. Making him realize that you can love what you do, and still live your life to the fullest. Not the greatest movie in the world but entertaining none the least. Worth seeing I would say at the theater, seeing John Malkovich take over this role on the screen, living the part. He is definitely one of the best actors in Hollywood and it shows. An interesting story that might inspire you to follow your dreams and take a chance on what really moves your soul.
