Time goes by and friends seem to lose track of each other. Is it just growing up or just differences in interest? In Fanboys, a group of guys meet together after quite some time at a local Halloween Party. Some of the old group of friends has not changed and some have just had no choice. All Stars Wars geeks at heart, some people can just never relinquish their love of Star Wars. After reminiscing and joking around they bring up the subject of one of the regular group that just couldn't show up to the party, there mutual buddy Linus. He has been struck with a case of terminal cancer and there does not look like much hope left for living much longer. All of them wish they had more time to spend with him but, can only act now to appreciate the time they have left with him. One of Linus's outlandish dreams growing up, was to break into the Skywalker Ranch. Planning this out as a kid, map included, with a straight line drawn across the United States to their final destination. Although this time they want to make this happen, not only to fulfill a silly dream, but because this will be the only chance for Linus to see the next longly awaited Star Wars film. Yes, that is right "The Phantom Menace". Eric, Windows, Hutch, and Zoe realize they have no choice. Not only will they have one of the greatest trips of their lives, but spend it with the friends they all care about the most.

Fanboys is a very tight niche market of film I would have to say . Yes, Not everyone could relate to this film. Unless you are one of those Star Wars Geeks that never gave up watch Return of Jedi for the billionth time. Memorizing every line of Star Wars Trilogy in its entirety, down to sounds that R2D2 makes in the films. If so you will find this funny to watch and might actually get some of the off beat humor and puns made in the script. OK fine the movie is a bit corny, not only are these guys going across the country to break into George Lucas' house, they also go out of their way to mess with some Trekkies. Just in good fun. Seth Rogen makes a small appearance as a super Trekkie nerd, the kind of Star Trek fan that speaks Klingon on a regular basis . Adding a bit of unknown conflict inyo the film, with a tad of stupidity. Is this movie entertaining? Well barely, I am going to be honest it really reaches for humor that I would say most people would not get. Although if you are a big Sci-Fi fan, I am sure you will find this good enough for a few laughs. Wait till it comes out on video and enjoy it one night at home watching it with old friends. It is not like it is the last Star Wars film ever to be released. It can wait.
