Igor is based in the town of Malaria, once a thriving sunny farming community with all the joy in the world. One day something drastic happened a significant change in the towns climate. It caused all the crops to die, the economy went straight into the toilet . Malaria was completely destroyed , nothing like it was at all. In order to make Malaria a thriving town again, King Malbert "Jay Leno", suggests that the town can thrive again even with the town in such a shambles. He suggests that the town build upon evil, everything evil that is. From building nasty destructive machines that the world would fear and the everyone would pay them for , ust not unless their destruction. Sort of you could say worldwide blackmail.

The town of Malaria was broken up into two major classes Evil Scientists and Igors. Igors were born with a hump on there back . They would go to Igor school to learn to be slaves of the evil scientists of Malaria . They were not allowed to be creative at all . Just follow the orders of their masters basically. The evil scientists went to evil scientist school, to learn how to make evil machines for town of Malaria to profit off. Sounds strange doesn't it.

Well the star of this movie is Igor "John Cusack", raised as your typical Igor would be. He is the personal Igor for Dr. Glickenstein "John Cleese", and he is not the brightest doctor either. Hidden away in Dr. Glickenstein's lair, Igor is building quite a few inventions of his own. A suicidal immortal rabbit named Scamper, "Steve Buscemi", and a transplanted brain that rolls around named Brian,"Sean Hayes".

One day Dr.Glickenstein has a catastrophic accident, that kills himself while testing his new evil device for the Malaria Evil Scientist Fair. Igor sees this as his chance to change the standard. He decides to secretly build his own evil device that will win the fair and give him status an evil scientist. Not disclosing to anyone that Dr. Glickenstein had died, allowing him to work in a lab in private.

Igor is a very strange tale , done in a dark style and animation similar to Henry Selick or Tim Burton. Although they somewhat capture that feel , the humor is completely lacking. Just about every joke in this movie is delivered wrong . Which is a complete tragedy for a film with so many comedians as the voices for the characters. I cannot imagine any children actually enjoying this film . It is awful strange and lacks "good" humor totally. Maybe this was written during the writers strike? They have all the makings for a good film, an interesting setting and storyline. Jut the interaction between the characters always seems to be one step off. Too bad really, I wanted to like this film , but I just found myself wishing for it to be over . For the record this is the first John Cusack film I have ever completely disliked and I am a total fan. Well if you are in for some torture or trying to find a movie that will bore your kids to sleep. As long as your not watching it , this is it . Nice try Anthony Leondis , but this movie needed quite a bit of tweaking to make it watchable. Also, I am not talking about the animation either.
