Quotes:

No! Please, don't! Don't! I don't want to die!
The mirrors. They're so clean.
Don't be scared, mommy. He just wants to come play with us.
You gotta be careful of the water, it creates reflections!

Ben Carson "Keifer Sutherland", is a cop that was suspended from the force; after, having problems dealing with shooting someone while on the force. He is having such problems dealing with the accident that his wife Amy "Paula Patton", are separated, and  having serious problems with their marriage. With all the emotional problems he is facing. Ben decides to get back out into the real world. Finding a job for the interim; until, he is taken back on the force. He finds a job as a security guard, watching an old burned down department store. In the store , there are mirrors everywhere, that have been polished up by the previous security guard. The guard he is replacing had a horrific accident, that killed him while working there. After working at the store for a short time, Ben is haunted by strange noises and starts to see things in the mirrors that are not actually real. Convinced that its not just his medication making him see things in the mirrors. Ben starts to investigate what caused the previous security guard to die.

Reflection after reflection, start to put Ben's life at risk. They are everywhere from mirrors, to windows, to the reflection off the water in the bathtub. Whatever has caused these reflections is not only coming after Ben, but his whole family. Ben needs to stop this from happening before its too late.

Mirrors keeps the suspense going, but at a low level of tension. Just enough to keep you interested and guessing what will happen next. I found this movie not predictable at all, and has some twists and turns that make this horror film entertaining. Compared to most horror films these days with loads of blood and guts flying everywhere. This was a nice change of something different. By the way, there is one scene in the bathtub that takes dying in a bathtub to a new level, and is totally original. You might want to close your eyes for that one. Alexandre Aja did a great a job keeping the right amount of gore and suspense to keep this moving going in the right direction. Keifer Sutherland kept the madness and confusion for his character Ben and was perfectly cast. Barely holding it together while trying to get back his life back.

Mirrors is a supernatural mystery that does have some grotesque scenes but, it does not take over the film entirely. An absolute surprise I thought as far as horror movies go, and an ending that is totally unpredictable . Worth renting and sitting down with some popcorn, waiting for terror to come and get you.
