Quotes:

It's all too real for me. I prefer a story that has the good sense to stay on the page.
This must be what it feels like to give birth.

Inkheart one of the most surprising films I have seen in a while, based on the book by Cornelia Funke. It is the story of Mo "Brendan Fraser" who was born with the gift of bringing to life, whatever he has read out aloud from the stories he reads. This wonderful gift also has its drawbacks. When he reads something comes out of the books but, something must be go back in its place. One night while putting Mo's daughter Maggie to bed "Eliza Bennett", he reads to his daughter the book Inkheart. While reading the book Mo's wife Resa gets sucked in and trapped inside the book. While the villains he was reading about come out of the book and come to life.

Nine years later Mo and his daughter are seen searching around Europe for another copy of Inkheart. In hopes of using it to bring his wife back from the book. The whole time being followed by Dustfinger "Paul Bettany" another character who has come out the book. Dustfinger longs to get back into the book, to return to his family and seeks help from Mo to get back inside the book. After being out for nine years, Dustfinger has changed his ways and has become a more compassionate villain. His Wife Gwen "Jennifer Connelly" has been visiting Dustfinger in his dreams asking him to return home.

Of the other villains that have come out of the book is Capricorn the leader,"Andy Serkis" and his bunch of thugs. They try to use Mo to gain riches and power using his powers. They try to get Mo to unleash the Shadow from the Inkheart book, the worst of all the villains. Also Capricorn wants to take control of the earth as well in his list of plans. During the movie they also encounter many other storybook characters along the way, from Peter Pan, Narnia and the Wizard of OZ. Using these other stories and characters to help them escape from the evil Capricorn. But this does not stop Capricorn from going after them. He follows them back to his great aunt Elinor house, and takes the whole family hostage including Dustfinger. So they seek out the author's help, in hopes that he can help them with the problems with the Inkheart Book and getting his family back.

This movie has quiet a bit of fantasy, all mixed up from various stories. The characters after being released start to change and do not exactly stay the way are written in the books.Which adds a new dimension to the story all together. It has quite a bit of potential, and the story can go anywhere in this fantasy land. Somewhat predictable, hopefully the continuations will add more surprise for the viewers. I have not read the book, but have heard it does have some discrepancies with the original story. Hopefully the readers will be as forgiving with this movie as they are with the Harry Potter series. An absolute surprise for a good taste of fantasy and imagination. A movie that kids are sure to enjoy and parents as well.
