Doubt based on the play by John Patrick Shanley has been brought to film for all too
see. With powerful performances by both Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Bring
to light a subject that most of us would like to mention at all. Meryl Streep plays
Sister Aloysius, a strict, strong willed catholic nun that runs St. Nicholas, a school
in the Bronx in the 1960's. She runs the school with her word being law and all the nuns
will follow. So along comes Sister James played by "Amy Adams" with the suspicion that
maybe a priest is taking advantage of a student, Sister Aloysius makes sure that
something must be done about this incling of an atrocity.

She wastes no time in confronting Father Flynn all based on Sister James's intuition
that something has gone wrong. Father Flynn played by "Phillip Seymour Hoffman" acts if
nothing is wrong and does not give you a chance to tell if there is any truth to their
argument over the student. Acting that the whole idea is contrived and shows no real
evidence is involved with their accusations. He dismisses the problem all together and
leaves. This is not good enough for Siter Aloysius and, she will get down to the nitty
gritty of what its truly going on.

A film of a scandal that happened in Catholic Schools, quite some time ago and that we
still hear about now til this day, still going on.

Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman both putting on one of the best performances of
their lives showing a battle between two people that just do not want to give up, keepig
you on the edge of your seat . They both deserve to be nominated for Oscar's for this
film, if not win for the both of them. I really am not a Meryl Streep fan but, I was
truely impressed this time with her acting . It will leave you doubting what really went
on at that school. This was just as good as watching a real performance on stage and did
a great justice to the play by far.
