Quotes:

Without hope, life's not worth living.

All men are created equal. No matter how hard you try, you can never erase this.

You're going to meet the most extraordinary men, the sexiest, brightest, funniest men, and you're going to fall in love with so many of them, and you won't know until the end of your life who your greatest friends were or your greatest love was.

Milk a movie starring "Sean Penn" playing Harvey Milk a leader of gay rights during the 1970's .  Based on the true story of his rise of politics and activism in San Fransisco. As far as I know a  true account of what happened in his real life. Harvey hits the age forty on his birthday and  realizes, that he has not done much with his life up to that point. Well at least not anything  extraordinary, that would leave his mark on the world. Letting everyone know that he even existed.  So he started organizing with his friends into making Castro City the exclusive "Gay" neighborhood  in San Fransisco. So he decides to run for political office to become the a political leader for  his neighborhood. Not only help his fellow neighbors but, to push Gay rights forward in San  Fransisco. He was elected the first openly Gay politician. Something that I think wouldn't have  been as hard to do now as back then. Harvey sacrifices everything from relationships, safety and  personal time for himself; all into making what he believes in matter. Sean Penn made a great  performance I thought as Harvy Milk, very believable. Sean Penn will make you totally lose thought  that you are even watching an actor playing a role. He might even be nominated when it comes time,  for Best Actor for this part.  It does have some Gay loves scenes that were done tastefully I  thought, not to offend anyone I am sure. Gus Van Santa and Sean Penn did a wonderful job making  this movie and hope to see more work from either of them in the future.

A great story showing that through organization and perseverance that people can make changes  against all odds. I wasn't alive yet or even a gleam in mother eye when this happened. It was  shocking to watch the horrible tragedies and problems he faced being Gay in the 1970's. I never  knew it was this bad. Now i know. Hopefully one day all people will be treated equally, we all can  hope. It is amazing to see how far Gay rights have come since back then. A great movie to see, a  little about history, of a very influential man in Gay rights who stood up for what he believed in.
