Australia an epic movie with "Nicole Kidman" as Lady Sarah Ashley, and  "Hugh Jackman" as Drover, playing the starring actors. Set just before the beginning of World War II, Lady Sarah Ashley is faced with the predicament of going to Australia , to save her family property "Faraway Downs" or risk losing it all. To make things even more complicated traveling during the start of another World War. She packs up her bags and
takes flight to go salvage what is left of her disheveled ranch in the outback of Australia before it is gone , lost in the turmoil of the start of a war.

When She arrives she runs into a cattle driver or cowboy named Drover played by "Hugh Jackman". She realizes that her ranch has been slowly pilfered by the previous workers and hires Drover to help her drive the cattle to Darwin in hopes of bringing Far Away Downs back to life in the cattle industry, against her competitor King Carney .

On her Ranch she runs into a small group of people that have been helping keeping the ranch running. A small group of aborigines, her drunken accountant, and especially most of all Nullah "Brandon Walters" a small orphaned aboriginal boy that she takes a shine too.

Australia, a truly photographic amazement of picturesque landscape of the outback and countryside of Australia. Shows the true beauty of this continent and sets you back in time during the late 1930's war torn world. It is actually a trio of stories involving romance,survival and prejudice towards the Aborigines .

You will be brought close to the characters through all their ordeals. It is a romantic story and shows what people will do, all for love. The interaction between Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman will keep you interested through out the whole film. One of Nicole Kidmans better roles , although I not a big fan of her. She does a great job playing the lead romantic role along with Hugh Jackman. It is good to know that he can play another character besides Wolverine in X-Men. Also the addition of the Brandon Walters a child actor that will just grab your heart with his tale of heartship. He plays a part in telling the tragic tale of racial problems in Australia's past. The movie also touches a bit on showing some of Australia's historical past by showing the attack on Darwin during World War II. Most of all never giving up for what you care about whether it is  bunch of cattle, a ranch, or our loved ones is the message of this film.


Baz Luhrmann did a wonderful job capturing the audience in this long romantic movie that will make you fall in love with all the characters by the end. An amazing movie that has brought a great epic back to screens .
