Quote:

"Venti does not mean large, it means twenty."

The latest movie by David Wain is "Role Models," an off center comedy, covering jokes that are quite crude to the point of almost distasteful. Wheeler "Sean William Scott" and Danny "Paul Rudd" are two guys, run into some trouble and have chosen to do community service instead of going to jail. They are to be apart of "Sturdy Wings" an organization for children that need a good role model in their life. As much as they would prefer to emotionally disconnect with the children, two of them stand in their way: Augie "Christopher Mintz-Plasse", a loner, misunderstood by his parents, and avid Dungeons and Dragons live-action roleplayer; and Ronnie "Bobb'e J. Thompson" a smart, foul mouthed, mister-know-it-all. Wheeler and Danny realize that both kids need more of a male influence in their life, because they have no real strong father figure to look up to that understands them.

Role Models is sort of a no holds barred kind of comedy, and sets no boundaries on what is considered politically correct, especially with the young "Bobb'e J. Thompson". This kids mouth is unbelievable. I cannot imagine anyones kid talking like this to them, at least when I was growing up. I am sure there are kids like this out there, but their is no point in glorifying it on screen. Hopefully its was just done for the sake of comedy. It just seemed to me like a miniature Red Foxx was walking around spouting lines, when this kid didn't know what he saying. (At least I hope so...) "Christopher Mintz-Plasse" plays your average geeky kid, but with less backbone then in the previous movies he has acted in such as Superbad. Actually he played his character to the tee, made it very believable and you will want to sympathize with his problems.

I understand they picked these two kids to make it more complicated for the two guys to help them. From the writers point of view, he takes these kids from an uncensored point of view to please older adults. Unfortunately, the plot is barely existent amongst all the dialog, for its nothing but joke after joke. If crude doesn't bother you, you will have no problem loving this movie. This movie is definitely geared towards guys. This is not a movie for children, unless you want them to talk like drunken sailors leaving the show.  Not a must see movie, unless you are desperate for some cheap laughs.
