Let the Right one in great movie. It is about a twelve year old boy named Oskar "Kåre Hedebrant" who lives ina building complex in Sweden . He is tormented and not the most popular kid at school, picked on by the bullies. Actually quite a few bullies. Well one day after coming home from school he goes outside to relieve some of the tension from the school day. By picking at the tree in front with his pocket knife talking to himself, about what he wants to say to the bullies, "Squeal, piggy squeal". Then meets his new next door neighbor standing above him . up on the jungle gym. A young brunette girl that has just moved in next door. He is in so need of a friend that , that he makes a point to meet this girl outside every night and slowly they become best of friends. Yet, the young girl "Lina Leandersson" has a very big secret that is hard to keep, even from his new friend Oskar.

The movie is a very quiet film. The director "Tomas Alfredson" really want people to pay attention to what is going on screen with the subtleties of the scenery. The acting by Kåre Hedebrant and Eli "Lina Leandersson" is actually very well done.  Kåre Hedebrant could not do a better job playing a shy twelve year old boy. Let the Right One In does have its gory scenes. Especially the hospital scene is a bit shocking, to see how her father hurts himself. Otherwise, done in tasteful way compared to all horror films that I have seen. The photography actually does bring you into the cold winter of Sweden . Especially with the feeling of the coldness and stillness of the night in winter, along with the beautiful soft classical music playing, every now and then.

I wouldn't really call this your typical vampire movie or even a horror film. The reason being this is a story about friendship and love at a young age. Yes Lina Leandersson is a vampire but, they are really just two kids that find eachother and end up being best of friends. A great movie and should do better in the theater that it probably will. Hats off to Tomas Alfredson, and hope to see more of his work in the future. Absolutly a chilling tail, of where you can find love and friendship in the strangest places.
