Why the site?

The short answer is “No real reason”.

The posts will be sporadic, and the films we review will jump from Screen to DVD and possibly even TV (it’s amazing what you’ll see on the late-night movie).

Growing up, our house was always filled with music and movies. Our Grandma splurged and bought 2 Betamax machines as soon as they came out in order to feed her need for cinema. Her collection was catalogued and cross-referenced. Tape #1 in her collection - Thoroughly Modern Millie and , Three Days of the Condor. She would stay up til 2am (there’s a pattern here) to tape comedies and film noir on the WLS or WGN late night movie, and if the jerk kid who showed the film didn’t cut it right, she was peeved! She would look forward to watching a classic and scoffed if the TV Station “butchered” a scene. Case in point: there was about a 20-year span where when you watched Bells of Saint Mary’s and she would complain that the Patsy character was on the cutting room floor. I was in High School when I finally saw the film uncut and therefore, discovered Patsy (thank you, Ted Turner). Unfortunately, it was colorized (thanks again, Ted).

This zeal was filtered through her kids and now her grandkids (us), so I guess it was only natural that our constant discussions on movies and their meaning would eventually spill over here. We don’t expect you to agree with us, nor are we posing ourselves as experts by any means. We just love movies.
